Plans are under way and models are being sought for a series of American Girl Fashion Show events to take place March 5 and 6 at Antone’s Banquet Center, 8578 Market St. Presented by the Kids’ Crew of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, show times are 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. both days, and proceeds will benefit local programs and services of the hospital.

Models must be size 10 or 6x in order to wear the clothing provided. There also will be a limited number of modeling opportunities for girls of other sizes, but those models must purchase their own outfit from a list of pre-approved selections.

The fashion show is a program recommended for children age 6 and older and combines education, fashion and goodwill to create a memorable experience for families.

Matching outfits for girls and their dolls are featured.

Approximately 50 models are needed for each of the four fashion shows, and modeling opportunities are open to the public. Models will be selected based on poise, confidence and stage presence. Girls must attend one of the model calls to be considered. Those will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. today, 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Model calls will take place in the Community Room on the first floor of Building C at the Akron Children’s Hospical Mahoning Valley Beeghly campus, 6505 Market St.

Potential models must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a completed application form and a full-length color photo. Materials can be accessed at www.akronchildrens.org/americangirlfashionshow, or by calling 330-746-8712.

Once chosen, models must be available for a fitting Feb. 6 as well as rehearsals Feb. 27 and March 4 in addition to their show time. There is no fee to audition, but once selected, each girl will be required to pay a $25 model registration fee that will be due at the fitting.

The events also will include refreshments, party favors, door prizes and raffles featuring American Girl merchandise.

Sponsorship opportunities, program book ads and VIP family tables are available. Tickets are $30 and can be ordered by calling 330-746-8712 or visiting the website above.
