Excerpts

From the Faith Journey section: “The work of forgiveness demands facing our culpability in hurting others. It requires the putting aside of our own hurts and resentments for the ultimate goal of being reunited with God and all those from whom we are separated. It calls for the balancing act of forgiveness and conversion that leads to reconciliation.

From Encouragement and Hope section: “We pray for peace every Sunday. We pray for peace in the Middle East. We pray for peace in the war-ravaged regions of Africa and Asia. We long for peace in our violent cities, in our politics, in our Church. Let’s start smaller. Let’s start at our own tables. If a peaceful family table can prevent one teen suicide, it is well worth the work. If a family gathering can stop just one violent murder on our streets, who wouldn’t do it. ... Let’s start small. Peace at our family tables. It might be bigger than you think.

From Call to Action section: “Jesus began his ministry in the least likely place with the least likely people. That point is clear and undeniable. Jesus wants us in the thick of things, in the mess, bringing light to the darkness. The message to repent is not about gloom and doom, it is about a new start, a reform, a reshaping of our lives.”
