The students at Poland Dobbins Elementary School have been bringing in gloves, hats, coats and scarves to donate to those in need. Representatives from Mahoning County Children’s Services came to Dobbins on Dec. 18 to pick up the donations from the students.

Starting the first day in December, each of the classes at Dobbins were assigned an item for the students to bring in for donations.

The PTO community service committee is the group that organized this donation drive. The PTO encouraged students to bring in items to support those who are in need of them. New items were also accepted and greatly appreciated.

Marisa Linch and Jennifer Cooler, from Mahoning County Children’s Services, picked up the donations. The students helped load them into the back of the vehicle to be taken to Children’s Services.

“There’s mittens, gloves, socks, scarves, coats, warm winter clothing, and it’s going to Children’s Services,” said Principal Michael Daley. “There are nine large boxes full of donated items.”

The students brought in items for children from the ages of infant through teen. Bringing in gifts allows the students to help the community and those who are less fortunate.

Daley expressed his gratefulness toward the students and told them how proud he was.
