Dad indicted in death of infant son

A Mahoning County grand jury indicted John Albino-Serrano, 31, of South Garland Avenue on charges of murder, child endangering and felonious assault in the death of his 2-month-old son last month.

The indictment was handed up Thursday afternoon.

The baby was taken first to Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, Boardman, then to its Akron hospital, where he died.

Hospital staff called police Dec. 15 and told them the baby had suffered brain injuries.

Albino-Serrano told police he was feeding the baby when the baby stopped breathing and became unresponsive, but he later admitted shaking the baby.

Albino-Serrano faces 15 years to life in prison if he’s convicted of murder.

Others indicted and the charges against them are:

Paul Richardson, 33, of Republic Avenue, two counts of menacing by stalking.

Sabrina Karen Jones, 21, of East South Range Road, New Middletown, drug possession, possessing a drug-abuse instrument and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

George Kindinis, 22, of Hickory Hollow Drive, Canfield, heroin and cocaine possession, possessing a drug abuse instrument and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Yolanda Winlock, 44, of Victor Avenue, tampering with evidence and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer.

Ismael Alvarez, 46, of North Jackson Street, domestic violence.

Leon Hamlin, 46, of Hillman Way, Boardman, cocaine trafficking, two counts each cocaine possession and illegal gun possession, carrying a concealed weapon, illegal use of supplemental nutrition or WIC program benefits, and possession of dangerous drugs with forfeiture specifications.

Leonard Raynard Broadnax Hill, 34, of Shadowood Lane Southeast, Warren, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Carl Moore, 25, of East Ravenwood Avenue, heroin possession, two counts of illegal gun possession, cocaine possession and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Timesha Nuby, 23, of Cambridge Avenue, heroin and cocaine possession and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Charles R. Boss III, 33, of Wingate Road, Poland, receiving stolen property and two counts of theft.

John D. Edmonds, 54, of Catherine Street, Youngstown, or Sunset Drive, Warren, passing bad checks.

Darryl R. Adams, 52, of Red Tail Hawk Drive, Boardman, or East Montrose Street, Liberty, failure to report change of address after a conviction for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Michael G. Lumpp, 30, of Oakwood Drive, Brookfield, theft.

Jermaine D. Phipps, 20, of West Chalmers Avenue, carrying a concealed weapon and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Vilma Fernandez, 28, of Alexander Street, heroin possession and child endangering.

Shirley Zelanka, 58, of Mentzer Drive, North Lima, cocaine possession.

Shaquille M. McElroy, 21, of Dryden Avenue, two counts of felonious assault with firearm specifications and shooting over a roadway.

April Marie Blosser, 31, of Leslie Avenue, Niles, two counts each of receiving stolen property and identity fraud.
