Dayton police say 1-year-old boy fatally shot

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in a southwest Ohio city say a 13-month-old boy has been fatally shot.

The Montgomery County coroner’s office says Elijah Johnson died just before midnight Thursday. His death was still under investigation today.

Dayton police say the boy and an adult female and male were hit by shots from a passing car as they stood outside a house Thursday afternoon. The adults were treated for their wounds at hospitals and released.

Police say they don’t know why the people were targeted and haven’t identified any suspects.

A 2-year-old boy Dayton was seriously wounded when gunshots were fired at a car he was in Dec. 24. A 20-year-old man has been charged with felonious assault in that case.
