Canfield Swim and Dive defeats Massillon


On Dec. 30, the Canfield Swim and Dive team defeated Massillon Washington. The women beat Massillon 132-24, and the men defeated Massillon 129-11.

Placing for Canfield were the girls 200 medley relay the team of Sydney Schuler, Theresa Mikolay, Maggie Beistel and Morgan Weiss in first place and the team of Madeline Remby, Gina Landers, Marissa Marzano and Kristen Shelley in third place; the boys 200 relay the team of Jared Rothbauer, Matthew Bogen, Alec Gaetano and Ben Brucoli in first place and the team of James Dietz, Lake Bennett, Bobby Kutsch and Kamran Sarac in second place.

In the girls 200 freestyle, Weiss took first place, Zoe Didomenico took second and Lauren Grimm took third place, while in the boys 200 freestyle, Cullen Brady took first place, Gaetano took second and Dietz took third. In the girls 200 individual medley, Landers took first place, Marzano took third and Maggie Brucoli took fourth, while in the boys 200 individual medley, Sarac took first place and Dietz took second.

The girls 50 freestyle event saw Ally McCartney take third place, Kristen Shelley take fourth and Marzano take fifth, while the boys 50 freestyle saw Ben Brucoli take first place, Kutsch take second and Sarac take third. In girls individual medley diving, Carlie Oddo took first place and Maggie Brucoli took second. In the girls 100 butterfly, Mikolay took first place, Biestel took second and Rachel Williams took third, while in the boys 100 butterfly, Rothbauer took first place and Jason Paris took second.

In the girls 100 freestyle, Biestel took first place, Sydney Schuler took second and Oddo took third, while in the boys 100 freestyle, Bogen took first place, Ben Brucoli took second and Bennett took third. The girls 500 freestyle event saw Williams take first place, Didomenico take second and Grimm take third. The boys 500 freestyle event saw Kutsch take first place, Rothbauer take second and Robby Didomenico take third.

The girls 200 free relay team of Oddo, Schuler, Mikolay and Beistel took first place and the team of Williams, Zoe Didomenico, McCartney and Grimm took third. The boys 200 free relay the team of Bogen, Brady, Gaetano and Ben Brucoli took first place and the team of Robby Didomenico, Dietz, Kutsch and Paris took second. In the girls 100 backstroke event, Schuler took first place, Madeline Remby took third and McCartney took fifth, while the boys 100 backstroke event saw Gaetano take first place, Brady take second and Paris take fourth.

In the girls 100 breaststroke, Mikolay took first place, Weiss took third and Shelley took fourth. In the boys 100 breaststroke, Bogen took first place, Bennett took second and Robby Didomenico took third. The girls 400 free relay team of Shelley, McCartney, Landers and Weiss took first place and the team of Zoe Didomenico, Remby, Grimm and Marzano took second place, while the boys 100 free relay team of Brady, Bennett, Rothbauer and Sarac claimed first place.
