Austintown Family Video hosted a Cookie Walk on Dec. 12 with the Legacy Dog Rescue to help the dogs of Mahoning and Trumbull County.

This year is the fourth year in a row that Legacy Dog Rescue, a non-profit organization, hosted a cookie walk. They do it once a year before Christmas to give people the opportunity to buy cookies for the holidays, to give as gifts or serve as a snack.

By purchasing the cookies and other baked goods for $5 a dozen, 100 percent of the funds raised go to the Legacy Dog Rescue to help the dogs. All of the cookies provided are donated by those who want to help out the dogs that are in pounds.

Aside from the baked goods, people can purchase other items. Legacy Dog Rescue also sold t-shirts, blankets, ornaments and other items.

Legacy Dog Rescue prides themselves on doing what they can for the dogs and getting their name out there as much as possible.

“Whoever is available, we like to bring the dogs out to socialize them and let them get seen,” said Jenn Overmier of Legacy Dog Rescue.

One of the dogs that was at the event was a dog named Taco, a pug and beagle mix. The dogs are brought to different events to try and get their faces out for people to look at and adopt.

Legacy Dog Rescuse hosts several different types of events to try and raise funds for the dogs in the shelters. They are constantly looking for families to adopt or be a host family for the dogs. They will also soon start helping the cats in looking for owners.
