POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:

GIRARD

Jan. 7

Theft: A woman discovered that five pieces of jewelry valued at $4,650 had been removed from her purse while she was at a business in the 800 block of North State Street.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Mosier Road man told officers another man borrowed but refused to return the accuser’s 1999 Cadillac vehicle.

Criminal damaging: Someone used a marble to break a double-pane window to a home in the 900 block of Lawrence Avenue.

Jan. 8

Theft: A Trumbull Avenue woman reported a $350 boot stolen when she went to her former husband’s residence to pick up her two children.

Jan. 9

Arrest: While responding to a possible drug overdose, police charged Valerie A. Reese, 27, of East Prospect Street, Girard, with disorderly conduct after saying several aggressive dogs in the residence temporarily prevented authorities from conducting their duties.

Harassment: A Church Hill Road woman said two people sent and made threatening text messages and calls to her.

Indecency: Authorities handed a summons charging Isaac Jones of Ward Avenue, Girard, with public indecency after an officer on routine patrol alleged having seen the 22-year-old Jones urinating behind a building in the 300 block of South State Street.

Jan. 10

Menacing: A Trumbull Avenue woman said her former boyfriend has driven past her apartment numerous times and has sat outside of her home, causing the accuser to fear for her safety.

Domestic violence: Christopher Dedonato, 45, of East Howard Street, Girard, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged that during an argument, Dedonato punched her throat and neck area.

LIBERTY

Jan. 8

Arrest: Police answered a disturbance call on Oakland Drive, where they arrested 25-year-old Cleo Hardison of Oakland, Youngstown. He was wanted on a warrant.

Drugs: Authorities received a complaint about possible drug activity in the 200 block of Goldie Road before charging Janet L. Allen, 57, of Arlene Avenue, Boardman, with possession of drug-abuse instruments, and taking into custody 62-year-old Jeffrey L. Allen of Scott Street Northeast, Warren, on a Mahoning County warrant. A bag of syringes, cotton swabs and spoons with burn marks common in drug use was found, police alleged.

Arrest: A traffic stop on Goldie Road led to 21-year-old Jalon J. Allen’s arrest. Allen, of East Midlothian Boulevard, Youngstown, was wanted on a bench warrant charging criminal trespassing.

Theft: A man in a dark baseball cap and tan coat reportedly stole a $59 computer tablet from Dollar General, 4425 Logan Way.

Arrest: After finding what appeared to be someone passed out in a vehicle, officers arrested 26-year-old Tanisha R. Silva of Trumbull Court, Liberty, on a township warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Drugs: Officers responded to a possible drug overdose on Colonial Drive before charging 41-year-old Andrea C. Davidson of Manchester Avenue, Youngstown, with possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia. Found were a bottle of Xanax pills with no label and a spoon with burn marks common in drug use, a report showed.

Jan. 9

Arrests: Michael J. Berlin, 20, of Creekside Drive, Hubbard, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired after police pulled him over on Belmont Avenue and said his blood-alcohol count was 0.142, which exceeds Ohio’s 0.08 legal limit. Also arrested was 19-year-old Emma L. Foust of West State Street, Salem, who was accused of failing to appear in court.

Jan. 10

Criminal damaging: A Logan Gate Road woman reported someone continually kicked her apartment door, damaging its knob, apparently in an effort to kick in the door.

Robbery: A worker for the Lamp Post Lounge, 2748 Belmont Ave., told police that while walking to her car, two men in black hooded sweatshirts and masks grabbed her purse and fled. Neither man appeared to have had a weapon, however, a report stated.

Jan. 11

Arrest: While responding to a possible shoplifting situation at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, authorities took 38-year-old Amy M. Sharafan of Price Road, Youngstown, into custody on a probation-violation charge. A theft charge was pending.

Menacing: A Niles woman alleged that while at a Belmont Avenue grocery store, an elderly Youngstown woman had threatened to slap her.

Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed to township authorities 28-year-old Tyrell Surles of Youngstown, who was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Jan. 12

Arrests: James Combine, 32, of Transfer, Pa., faced a charge of obstructing a police officer, and 27-year-old Tonya K. Bulboff of Shenango Street, Greenville, Pa., was charged with obstructing official business and possession of drug-abuse instruments after police had pulled them over near Fifth Avenue. Combine provided a false name and date of birth; in addition, a hypodermic needle and a spoon with burn marks typical of drug use were found, a report alleged.

HUBBARD

Jan. 7

Arrest: A traffic stop on North Main Street resulted in the arrest of 40-year-old Cedrick Boyd of Pine Hollow Boulevard, Hermitage, Pa., on a probation-violation charge. Also taken into custody was Amber Laughlin, 34, of Roemer Boulevard, Farrell, Pa., on a charge of driving under suspension.

Damage: A Jacobs Road man saw that a vehicle had struck and damaged his mailbox.

Recovered property: A man found a debit card in an automated teller machine at a bank in the 600 block of West Liberty Street.

Jan. 11

Theft: A man reported his $150 cellphone stolen while at his mother’s Westview Drive residence.

Jan. 12

Identity fraud: A Stewart Avenue woman found two unauthorized charges to her checking account that may have originated online and that totaled about $1,800.
