URGENT | Man indicted on murder charge, more for death of son

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury today indicted John Albino-Serrano, 31, of South Garland Avenue, on charges of murder, child endangering and felonious assault in the death of his 2-month-old son last month.

The baby was first taken to Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, Boardman, then to its Akron hospital, where he died.

Hospital staff called police Dec. 15 and told them the baby had suffered brain injuries.

Albino-Serrano told police he was feeding the baby when the baby stopped breathing and became unresponsive, but he later admitted shaking the baby.

Albino-Serrano faces 15 years to life in prison if he’s convicted of murder.
