Ohio State 94, Rutgers 68

Freshman guard JaQuan Lyle had 16 points, a career-high 12 rebounds and 11 assists and Ohio State used a big second half to beat Rutgers. Five other Buckeyes were in double figures for the (12-6, 4-1 Big Ten), Keita Bates-Diop, Je-Sean Tate and Kam Williams had 14, Marc Loving 12 and Trevor Thompson 11. Corey Sanders had 20 points, 17 in the first half, when the Scarlet Knights (6-12, 0-5) took a 41-39 lead. The Buckeyes outscored them 55-27 in the second half. Ohio State opened the second half with a 13-0 run in the first four minutes to go up 52-41 lead. Tate started the rally with a pair field goals and Thompson followed with consecutive dunks.

No. 6 Villanova 83, Marquette 68

VILLANOVA, PA.

Kris Jenkins scored 20 points and Jalen Brunson had 14 to lead No. 6 Villanova. The Wildcats (15-2, 5-0 Big East) blew a 16-point lead and trailed early in the second half until they took control late in game to for the 36th straight time at the Pavilion. Daniel Ochefu grabbed 13 rebounds and the Wildcats hit eight 3-pointers to win their seventh straight game. Haanif Cheatham led Marquette (12-5, 2-3) with 17 points. The Golden Eagles trailed by one with 12:38 left in the game before the Wildcats blew the game open. The Golden Eagles missed 10 straight shots and went more than 8 minutes without a field goal.

Clemson 68, No. 9 Duke 63

GREENVILLE, S.C.

Jaron Blossomgame scored 17 points, including the clinching dunk with 13.5 seconds left, to lift Clemson. Coupled with Sunday’s win over then No. 16 Louisville, it’s the first time the Tigers (11-6, 4-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) have beaten consecutive ranked opponents since closing the 1989 season with victories over Duke and Georgia Tech. This one started like a typical Blue Devils blowout, with Duke taking a 28-16 lead midway through the opening half. Instead, the Tigers hung tough to beat Duke (14-3, 3-1) for the second time in three seasons. Grayson Allen led Duke with 17 points, three off his season average. Freshman Brandon Ingram scored 16 points for the Blue Devils, all but one in the first half.

No. 10 SMU 79, East Carolina 55

GREENVILLE, N.C.

Ben Moore scored 17 points and SMU remained unbeaten by routing East Carolina. Markus Kennedy had 11 points and 10 rebounds, Jordan Tolbert finished with 15 points and Nic Moore had a career-high 12 assists for the Mustangs (16-0, 5-0 American Athletic Conference), who had five double-figure scorers for the fourth time this season.

No. 22 Baylor 82, TCU 54

WACO, TEXAS

Terry Maston scored a career-high 17 points and combined with Taurean Prince for all the scoring in Baylor’s game-turning run before halftime as the Bears beat TCU. Baylor (13-3, 3-1 Big 12) went ahead to stay with a 13-0 run over the final 3 1/2 minutes of the first half. Since the instate rivals became conference foes again three seasons ago, Baylor has won all eight meetings by an average margin of 20 points.

No. 24 Purdue 74, Penn State 57

WEST LAFAYETTE, IND.

Vince Edwards scored 19 points, Isaac Haas had 14 and Caleb Swanigan added 13 as No. 24 Purdue routed struggling Penn State. The Boilermakers (15-3, 3-2 Big Ten) have won seven of eight in this series and nine straight at home against the Nittany Lions. Penn State (10-8, 1-4) was led by Brandon Taylor, who finished with 21 points despite playing most of the second half in foul trouble. Donovon Jack scored 12 in the Nittany Lions’ second straight loss.

WOMEN

No. 1 UConn 86, Memphis 46

MEMPHIS, TENN.

Moriah Jefferson matched her season-high with 21 points, Breanna Stewart had 11 points and eight rebounds and top-ranked UConn beat Memphis. The Huskies (15-0, 5-0 American Athletic Conference) led by double-digits about 7 minutes in and never trailed. Katie Lou Samuelson matched Stewart’s 11 points and Napheesa Collier had 10. Jefferson was 7 of 8 from the field and 3 of 4 outside the arc.

No. 4 Texas 75, Kansas 38

LAWRENCE, KAN.

Imani Boyette scored 15 points, Empress Davenport had 11 points and 10 rebounds and No. 4 Texas routed Kansas. Celina Rodrigo had seven assists and Brianna Taylor had five steals for the Longhorns (16-0, 5-0 Big 12). Texas is 5-0 in the Big 12 for the first time since 2002-03 and beat Kansas for the sixth straight time. This was the Jayhawks’ worst loss of the season.

Indiana 81, No. 18 Michigan State 65

BLOOMINGTON, IND.

Tyra Buss scored 24 points, Amanda Cahill and Karlee McBride added 17 each and Indiana rolled. The trio combined for the first 13 points of the game as the Hoosiers shot 52 percent and converted 14 Michigan State turnovers to 27 points in the first half for a 39-25 lead. McBride had 13 points. .

No. 19 South Florida 71, Tulane 67

NEW ORLEANS

Courtney Williams scored 16 of her 31 points in the fourth quarter to rally No. 19 South Florida. South Florida (11-4, 4-1 American) led 62-56 after Williams scored the first 13 points of a 15-6 run to start the fourth quarter.
