Man accused in accident was four times over drunk driving limit, police say

YOUNGSTOWN

Police reports said a man who caused an accident about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on the Madison Avenue Expressway by driving the wrong way was more than four times over the legal limit for being drunk.

Reports said blood tests drawn at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital showed that Daniel Ohle, 51. Of South Schenley Avenue, had a blood alcohol content of .375. The legal limit in Ohio is .08.

Ohle was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Reports said a van he was driving collided with a car that was driving north on the expressway that was driven by a woman who had two children, ages 5 and 10 months, inside.

Reports also said that Ohle has seven previous OVI convictions ranging from 1985-2009 in Ohio, an OVI arrest in New Castle, Pa., in 2008 and two previous alcohol related driving offenses that were probably alcohol related.

The woman was treated at the hospital and released. Her children were not injured. A police hold was placed on Ohle at the hospital.
