Mother, son cited after brief police chase
YOUNGSTOWN — A mother was cited Monday for allowing her son to drive her car even though he has a suspended license after he led police on a short chase about 4:25 p.m.
Reports said officers saw a car driven by Emanuel Valentin, 18, of Shields Road in Boardman, run a stop sign at West Warren and Oakhill avenues and tried to pull it over.
Instead, Valentin drove away. The officers chased him but called it off a short time later, reports said. However, the car pulled onto West Dewey Avenue where another cruiser was, reports said.
Reports said a records check showed Valentin was driving a car registered to his mother, Tangy Valentin, 38, of Allen Street, who was a passenger. Reports said she admitted her son has a suspended license but let him drive anyway.
The son was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding and driving under suspension and the mother received a citation for wrongful entrustment.
