Cincy police fatally shoot man they say pointed weapon at officers
CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities say a robbery suspect fatally shot by police after pointing a weapon at two officers was carrying a BB pistol.
Cincinnati police Chief Eliot Isaac identified the suspect as 45-year-old Robert Tenbrink of Cincinnati.
Isaac says officers confronted Tenbrink on Monday night soon after two area stores reported robberies. The chief says Tenbrink matched the description of the suspect in the robberies at the Walgreens and Deals stores.
The stores’ employees said a man in a dark coat and plaid pants demanded money at gunpoint.
Isaac says both officers fired at Tenbrink who was hit at least once in the face. Officers could be heard on audio from the shooting telling Tenbrink to put up his hands.
Isaac says Tenbrink had undergone a tracheotomy and apparently didn’t respond verbally.
