15 Mahoning CSB supervisors get raises

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning County Children Services Board voted to raise the salaries of 15 of its supervisors, 14 of them by 2 percent and one by 4 percent, effective Feb. 1.

Executive Director Randall Muth recommended the pay increases.

The largest pay raise the board approved Tuesday is going to Nikki Posterli, the board’s fiscal officer, whose annual salary is increasing 4 percent from $56,826 to $59,099.

Muth said he recommended the 4 percent increase for Posterli because she took over purchasing and building management duties from the board’s longtime office manager, Floree Stubbs, who retired last month.

The annual cost of the raises is $17,060, amounting to $15,638 for the last 11 months of 2016.

The salary increases boost CSB’s total annual nonunion payroll from $1,048,653 to $1,065,713.

Calvin Jones, chairman of the board’s personnel committee, said he believes granting the raises is a matter of fairness to the employees.

“With the last increase of the bargaining-unit employees, the gap between the management salaries and the bargaining-unit employees was beginning to close again,” he said.

“This was an opportunity for us to give some small adjustment in their pay, not only for the duties that they’re performing, but for an appreciation of the job that they do,” Jones said of the supervisors.
