Two men were arrested over the weekend in separate incidents after reports said they led officers on a chase.

Stacey E. Rice, 26, of Youngstown, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, failure to comply and fleeing and eluding about 11:10 p.m. Saturday.

Reports said officer Marcin Stachowicz tried to pull over a car driven by Rice after it failed to stop for a stop sign at Hillman and St. Louis avenues.

Reports said the car refused to pull over for several blocks before it abruptly stopped in a driveway in the 400 block of Garfield Avenue. Reports said Rice jumped out of the driver’s side and began running through several yards, and Stachowicz warned Rice he would use his electronic stun weapon if he failed to stop when they were on Breaden Street.

Rice refused to stop, and Stachowicz fired his stun weapon but missed, reports said. However, Stachowicz was soon able to tackle Rice.

Reports said Rice told police he ran because he has a warrant. A check of records found that Rice has a failure-to-appear warrant on a disorderly-conduct charge.

About 6:15 p.m. Friday, Ross Wallace, 26, also of Youngstown, was arrested on charges of driving under suspension, possession of cocaine, obstructing official business and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer. Reports said an SUV he was driving pulled away from an officer at high speed while it was parked in the middle of West Warren Avenue.

Reports said the SUV did not stop until Pineview Avenue and the driver, who reports said was Wallace, ran and threw a plastic bag away as he did so. Reports said Wallace also threw away a cellphone on Winona Drive before officer Anthony Trimble caught up and arrested Wallace in the 700 block of Winona Drive.

Reports said Trimble found the bag that Wallace threw away at Montclair Avenue and Winona Drive, and there was a large amount of suspected cocaine inside.

Both men spent the weekend in the Mahoning County jail.
