Monday Night Writers will meet Jan. 18

CANFIELD

Monday Night Writers will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 18 at Tequila Jalisco Mexican Restaurant, 583 E. Main St.

Published and unpublished area writers are welcome at the events, which are led by Nancy Christie, author of “Traveling Left of Center and Other Stories.”

There will be writing exercises, information on creative and business aspects of writing, and group feedback on works-in-progress.

Cost is $10 per class.

Scott Kauffman authors 2nd book

IRVINE, CALIF.

Scott Kauffman, a former Columbiana County prosecutor whose practice focuses on white-collar crime and tax litigation, is the author of “Revenants, The Odyssey Home,” his second book.

His novel, “Deepest Consequences,” was nominated for the Benjamin Franklin Literary Publishing Award for best debut novel of 2006. He is a recipient of the 2011 Mighty River Short Story Contest and the 2010 Hackney Literary Award. He is working on two manuscripts and a collection of short stories.

He graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Ore.

“Revenants” is a story of a candy striper in a Veterans Administration Hospital whose brother died in Vietnam. She is trying to identify an anonymous veteran.
