Crash causes outage
CHAMPION
Trumbull County 911 reported that a vehicle hit a utility pole at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the 4000 block of Mahoning Avenue, knocking out electric power for several hours to more than 500 homes and businesses along the street, state Route 45, in Champion and Warren.
But 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, reported that all but about 180 FirstEnergy customers had their power restored by noon and the rest were expected to have power by early afternoon.
Fire damages house
SOUTHINGTON
The occupants of a two-story wood frame house at 3844 Phalanx Mills-Herner Road escaped unharmed when a fire seriously damaged their home Saturday morning.
The cause of the fire, reported at 10 a.m., is under investigation. Southington firefighters were assisted by units from Bristolville, Champion, Farmington and Warren Township.
