Bill Hendricks of Canfield was honored as a four-time Paul Harris Award recipient when the Rotary Club of Austintown met. Most Rotarians are honored once or twice, but Hendricks’ beliefs in the goals and achievements of the Rotary Foundation inspired him to this high honor.

Tom Welsh was inducted as a new member Jan. 4. Welsh is a researcher, editor and writer. He was inducted by member Chuck Baker.

Mal Culp is Rotary president.

Pancake breakfast for Celebrate Poland

POLAND

The Celebrate Poland planning committee will sponsor a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 23 in the cafeteria at Poland Seminary High School, 3199 Dobbins Road.

Donations will be accepted for a meal that also will include sausage and beverages.

There will be a gift basket raffle. Proceeds will provide for activities during the 10th annual Celebrate Poland event on June 24 and 25.

Fundraiser planned for Kim Parson

Austintown

A fundraiser is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Jan. 25 at Quaker Steak & Lube, Interstate Boulevard, to help offset medical costs for Kim Parson, who suffers from lung disease.

Customers who download and print the flyer available by emailing klp21965@gmail.com can present it at the restaurant, and 10 percent of their check will be donated toward Parson’s medical costs. A gofundme account also has been set up at www.gofundme.com/ah8vp9rk, and there is an account available at any Farmers National Bank under the name Take a Breath for Kim.

Send valentines to Mahoning Pound pups

Friends of Fido of the Mahoning County Dog Pound are offering a “For the Love of Dogs” participatory event through Valentine’s Day.

Bring cheer to the dogs at the Mahoning Pound by mailing $1 and a valentine to P.O. Box 14155, Poland, OH, 44514.
