POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:
HUBBARD
Jan. 1
Citation: Officers received information about a possibly reckless driver before issuing a minor-misdemeanor citation charging 55-year-old Eleanor Geidner of Forest Hill Drive, Hubbard, with having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Jan. 2
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into an office at Pine Lakes Golf Course, 6233 W. Liberty St., through a front window and removed an undisclosed sum of money.
Jan. 3
Domestic violence: Brandon Boyles, 31, of East Liberty Street, Hubbard, was charged with the crime after a woman alleged that during an argument, Boyles held her neck while on a bed and forced the accuser’s face into a pillow.
Harassment: A Church Street woman said her former boyfriend has sent her such text messages, apparently because she had a pending case against him.
Jan. 4
Theft: A 31-year-old Sharon, Pa., man reportedly admitted having stolen a $10 bottle of vodka from Devine’s Shop ‘n’ Save, 529 N. Main St., and was given a criminal-trespassing warning.
Drug paraphernalia: Police responded to a person with a possible medical problem in the 600 block of West Park Avenue, where they reported finding in an apartment two spoons with burn marks common in drug use, razor blades and a dental tool that can be used to clean a crack-cocaine pipe. No charges had been filed at the time of the report, though.
LIBERTY
Jan. 1
Arrest: While responding to a disturbance in the 500 block of Gypsy Lane, police arrested 46-year-old Kerry Campbell of Samuel Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a probation-violation charge related to charges of receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Arrest: Aaron Robbins III of Northview Boulevard, Liberty, was taken into custody during a traffic stop near his residence. Robbins, 57, was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court.
Domestic violence: Anthony P. Thomas, 24, of East Liberty Street, Youngstown, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged he had assaulted her. The victim had a minor injury to her right hand, a bloody finger and redness on her face, a report stated.
Jan. 2
Arrest: Police near Hadley Avenue pulled over 21-year-old Antoinette J. Bryant and took her into custody. Bryant, of Trumbull Court, Liberty, was accused of failing to appear in court on an assault charge.
Breaking and entering: A gas furnace and an air-conditioning unit were removed from a home in the 400 block of East Montrose Avenue after someone had broken in. The loss came to $5,000.
Domestic violence: Danny L. Carter, 35, of North Wickliffe Circle, Youngstown, was charged after his girlfriend alleged that during an argument, Carter hit, pushed and shoved her, then tried to take their infant. The victim suffered several cuts and bumps.
Jan. 4
Arrest: Officers in the 10 block of James Lane picked up 22-year-old Jason T. Strutt of Evans Street, Niles. He was wanted on a warrant.
Theft: A woman noticed that four firearms had been removed from her Tuttle Lane residence.
Breaking and entering: The owner of Bud’s Car Wash, 3622 Belmont Ave., discovered someone had broken into a storage shed. Stolen were a commercial power washer and six heating units, for a $5,200 loss.
Theft: Two men reportedly were seen in surveillance footage stealing a 55-inch TV valued at $1,198 from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. The suspects fled in a black Chevrolet Suburban vehicle, a report said.
Theft/criminal damaging: Someone stole a dump truck and an 18-piece wrench set from DelliQuadri Lawn Maintenance & Landscaping Contractors, 1270 Trumbull Ave. Also, a stacking conveyor vehicle’s starter and battery wires had been cut and removed; in addition, a front loader was found with a disconnected starter, a report showed.
Jan. 5
Arrest: Boardman police relinquished custody of 29-year-old Jeremiah V. McClarin to Liberty authorities. McClarin, of Buckeye Court, Youngstown, was wanted on a township warrant.
Theft: Gregory L. Davenport, 43, of Northview Boulevard, Liberty, was charged with stealing several packs of socks and undergarments valued at $60 from Dollar General in the Liberty Plaza.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a storage shed at Bud’s Car Wash before stealing four 5-gallon cans of kerosene and an $800 commercial item.
Jan. 6
Drug paraphernalia: A traffic stop on Belmont Avenue resulted in a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia against 32-year-old David R. King of Santa Monica Drive, Youngstown, when, police alleged, a digital scale with a powdery substance was found.
Domestic violence: A charge was pending against a township man, 25, after his girlfriend alleged he had punched and kicked her head and body in an apparently unprovoked attack.
GIRARD
Jan. 1
Assault: While responding to a possible drug overdose, authorities charged Cameron D. Hewitt of Forsythe Avenue, Girard, with three counts of assault on a police officer and one of underage consumption of alcohol. The 19-year-old Hewitt hit an officer in the face when he intervened as Hewitt attempted to strike a paramedic; he also kicked and spit on another officer who tried to restrain him, a report said.
Summons: Police responded to a report of gunshots in the 400 block of Iowa Avenue before handing Elmer T. Gordon of Iowa Avenue, Girard, a summons charging him with discharging a firearm in city limits. Gordon admitted having fired a shot to usher in 2016, a report showed.
Jan. 2
Harassment: A Park Avenue man said a woman has sent unwanted text messages to him.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a building in the 10 block of South State Street via the roof, then stole two laptop computers and a .38-caliber revolver.
Jan. 3
Arrest: Police took into custody William R. McConnell, no age listed, of Morris Avenue, Girard, who was wanted on a warrant. McConnell also was charged with resisting arrest when, authorities said, he fought with them.
Theft: A Dearborn Street woman noticed nine gold rings had been taken from her purse. She also reported several video games missing.
Drugs: Joseph J. Delbene, 41, of Indiana Avenue, McDonald, was given minor-misdemeanor citations charging him with drug abuse and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle while he near Howard Street and U.S. Route 422. Delbene had a small bag of suspected marijuana and an empty bottle of alcohol, police said.
Criminal mischief: A Church Hill Road man alleged his girlfriend damaged a portion of his car’s finish as well as a windshield wiper. The damage estimate was $840.
Jan. 4
Harassment: A Cheyenne Drive man said his former girlfriend has made numerous unwanted calls to him and gave the accuser’s number to other people without permission.
Theft: A South Randolph Avenue man alleged his wife had stolen his prescription medications.
Jan. 5
Domestic violence: Ronald G. Madden, no age given, of West Wilson Avenue, Girard, was charged after a woman alleged that during a confrontation, Madden had lunged at her, causing the accuser to fear for her safety. He also was wanted on a Trumbull County 911 center warrant.
