Hermitage police: Walmart worker saves DUI suspect from burning car

HERMITAGE, Pa. (AP) — Police say a Walmart employee rescued a drunken driver from her burning car in the parking lot of a store.

Hermitage police tell The Herald paper of Sharon that employee Ian Heffernan rushed outside with a fire extinguisher about 6:45 a.m. Jan. 1.

When he couldn’t douse the car’s burning engine, Heffernan noticed 21-year-old Dylan Klink passed out in the driver’s seat.

Heffernan unlocked the door through a partially open window and pulled Klink from the car.

Police say Heffernan woke up the woman and guided her into the store, where police say she told them she had been at a party, but didn’t know where.

Court records don’t list an attorney for Klink, who doesn’t have a listed phone. She faces a preliminary hearing Jan. 28.
