The fourth-grade students of West Boulevard Elementary hosted a science fair on Dec. 10 in the school gym. The gym was filled with several different kinds of science projects, all created by the students.

The science fair was intended for students to learn by having hands-on experience and research. The projects ranged from night vision goggles and how well they really worked to what type of produce emits the most power.

The students stood proudly by their experiments and were eager to tell anyone who asked about them.

Family and friends surrounded the projects admiring the hard work that was put into the experiments by the students.

Karen McCallum, a mother to one student, described the work that her daughter put into her science project.

“She’s a red-head, so she tested out coloring red hair as opposed to blonde hair to see what one would take longer and if there was a difference. She cut her own hair to do this,” McCallum said.

Catherine Janciga, a fourth-grade student, had an experiment about what brand on gum blows the biggest bubble. Her mother said Catherine had fun performing the experiment, but also how it was very time consuming chewing, blowing and measuring a bunch of different bubble gums.

The science fair also provided snacks and refreshments for the guests.
