Poland Union Elementary School spent their last day of classes before winter break with a visit from Santa Claus, a holiday sing along and cookie decorating on Dec. 22.

Santa Claus made a special trip to Union to visit all of the students in every classroom. He made sure to get a picture with every classroom. Santa also brought Mrs. Claus with him to visit the students.

“Having close to 400 kids in a K-2 building, their level of excitement was through the roof,” said Principal Mike Masucci.

Around 40-50 PTO members came to the school to help all of the students decorate cookies in the classrooms. There was icing, sprinkles and many more toppings to use for cookie decorations.

“Our PTO’s incredibly supportive. They always go above and beyond for our kids and support our teachers and our staff. It’s nice to have them here,” said Masucci.

To end the day, the school came together in the gymnasium to sing Christmas carols and watch funny videos that Dean Wilson, music teacher, put together. After the students finished their Christmas carols, Santa talked to the children about Christmas coming up. He made sure to mention that chocolate chip cookies are his favorite.

“It was a nice way to end our short week and get ready for the break,” said Masucci.
