POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Dec. 29

Theft: Numerous prescription medications were taken from a residence in the 8500 block of Chesterton Drive.

Dec. 31

Identity fraud: A Via Cassia Drive man reported someone without authorization had opened a credit-card account at Kohl’s with his information, then made $1,649 worth of fraudulent purchases at a store in Elgin, Ill.

Jan. 3

Burglary: To a home in the 7500 block of North Lima Road by unknown means, though authorities found no signs of forced entry. Stolen was more than $26,000 worth of women’s jewelry, along with several purses.

Harassment: An Algonquin Drive man said he was being harassed via telecommunications.

BOARDMAN

Dec. 31

Criminal mischief: A man in his 20s reportedly was seen on a security camera at a Becky Court residence after a woman reported someone had unscrewed a bulb to a light fixture above her rear sliding-glass door.

Domestic violence: Larry Thomas Jr., 33, of Cook Avenue, Boardman, faced one felony count each of domestic violence and aggravated menacing after a Youngstown woman alleged Thomas had grabbed and shaken her during an argument, then placed a gun to her face.

Citation: Shawn M. Wilson, 25, of McGuffey Road, Youngstown, was handed a minor-misdemeanor citation after having been pulled over near Arlene Avenue. He was accused of having a suspected marijuana pipe.

Theft: Ashley E. Dunnerstick, 27, of Massillon was charged with stealing a USB cable from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Jan. 1

Arrest: After receiving information about a possibly inebriated driver near McClurg Road, police charged 61-year-old Michael J. Fisher of Hunter Woods Boulevard, Canfield, with operating a vehicle impaired and obstructing official business. While providing a urine sample, Fisher intentionally dumped out most of it from a collection container, police alleged.

Citation: Brenton J. Sanders of South Schenley Avenue, Youngstown, received a minor-misdemeanor citation after police had stopped the 26-year-old Sanders’ vehicle on U.S. Route 224 and alleged he had two suspected marijuana cigarettes.

Felonious assault: Jerod E. Bouslough III, 38, of Sierra Madre Trail, Boardman, faced one count each of felonious assault and domestic violence after his girlfriend alleged Bouslough had struck her multiple times in several places during an argument. The victim had a swollen right eye and a large quantity of blood on and near her face, a report said.

Theft: A Youngstown woman noticed $100 missing from her purse while in the 8400 block of Colwyn Court.

Domestic violence: Melanie A. Ditchey, 52, of Hitchcock Road, Boardman, was charged with the crime after her boyfriend alleged Ditchey had tried to choke him during an altercation.

Criminal damaging: A large rock was used to break a front window to a home in the 7400 block of Glenwood Avenue and do $200 in damage.

Citation: Police responded to a report that someone in the 400 block of West Midlothian Boulevard had been moaning and screaming, then issued 34-year-old Jeffrey J. Howard II of Alburn Drive, Boardman, a minor-misdemeanor citation charging him with disorderly conduct while intoxicated. Howard was found lying on the front porch of a home in the 3900 block of Hudson Avenue and was intoxicated, a report showed.

Trespassing: Jerod E. Bouslough III of Sierra Madre Trail, Boardman, was booked on a criminal-trespassing charge after police reported the 38-year-old man had answered the door to his girlfriend’s residence when they went to inform her Bouslough had been released from jail on a domestic-violence charge.

Domestic violence: Thomas J. Woods, 41, of Afton Avenue, Boardman, was charged with one felony count after a township woman alleged Woods had punched her mouth during an argument. The charge was elevated because of a prior conviction, a report stated.

Theft by deception: An official with CVS Pharmacy, 7230 Market St., told police a caller claiming to need to update the store’s computer terminals tricked her into loading several gift cards into the system. After she did so, the caller said the void code still was not working, at which point the worker realized it was a scam. The loss came to $1,980.

Jan. 2

Possible theft: An East Parkside Court woman reported her rear license plate lost or stolen.

Theft: Two men reportedly took a $200 set of headphones from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Police charged 52-year-old Sharon R. Davenport with theft after alleging Davenport, of Jackson Street, Campbell, had made about $95 worth of fraudulent returns at Walmart.

Domestic violence: Eliyah J. Connor, 19, of Cook Avenue, Boardman, was charged after a man alleged that during an argument about food, Connor had placed a finger in his eye and struck his face.

Theft: A woman in her mid- to late 20s reportedly stole miscellaneous hygiene products from Family Dollar, 4030 Market St.

Theft: Six people reportedly left Denny’s Restaurant, 154 Boardman-Canfield Road, without paying their $59.62 food bill.

Theft: Kit Glass, 37, of Oxford Street, Campbell, was charged in the theft of three energy drinks from Walmart.

Theft: Diamond C. Williams, 21, of West Glenaven Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with drinking from a milk carton while at Walmart and failing to pay for the item.

Jan. 3

Criminal damaging: A bullet hit and did about $500 in damage to a vehicle’s windshield in the 700 block of Canterbury Lane.

Drugs: Police near Mathews Road pulled over and charged 29-year-old Mark A. Jones of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, with cocaine possession, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and operating a vehicle impaired. Jones, who had two bags of suspected crack cocaine in a cigarette pack, refused to get out of his car and struggled briefly with officers, a report showed.

Scam: A Mill Creek Boulevard woman told police she received two suspicious items in the mail, including a letter claiming she could win $15,000 but also requesting that she send money to a Kansas City, Mo., address.

Theft: An Austintown woman reported her purse stolen while at a South Avenue banquet center.

Theft: Authorities responded to a possible domestic-violence situation at a Hillman Way apartment, where they took into custody 19-year-old Deja J. Thomas of Hillman, Boardman, on a theft charge. An employee with Family Dollar, 4030 Market St., had reported her $160 iPhone stolen Aug. 21 while at work.

Domestic violence: Albert D. Byrd IV, 21, of Hillman Way, Boardman, faced a felony charge after his girlfriend alleged Byrd had punched her head, knocking her into a wall, and threw the accuser to the ground before choking and kicking her down a set of stairs. The argument apparently was related to a Facebook message, a report showed.

Weapon: A housekeeper reported having found a loaded .25-caliber semiautomatic pistol while cleaning a room at a Tiffany Boulevard motel.

Theft: Stephanie C. Woodland, 33, of Arden Boulevard, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of about $82 worth of groceries from Marc’s, 7121 Tiffany Blvd.

Jan. 4

Arrest: A traffic stop near Market Street led to the arrest of Ashley S. Cash of Hamrock Drive, Campbell. The 25-year-old Cash was wanted on three probation-violation charges.

Theft: Johnda C. Harvey, 32, was charged with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after $393 worth of merchandise was taken from Walmart. Harvey, of Lora Avenue, Youngstown, also had a suspected crack-cocaine pipe in a cigarette pack, police alleged.

Misuse of a credit card: A Lake Park Road man found about $1,025 worth of fraudulent transactions on his bank statement, most of which had originated in California.

Arrest: Police near Midlothian Boulevard pulled over a vehicle containing 35-year-old Michael A. Sunderman of East Florida Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a Struthers warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Breaking and entering: Christopher G. Cox, 34, of Adams Road, East Palestine, surrendered on a breaking-and-entering charge after someone had forcibly entered Tobacco City, 110 Boardman-Poland Road, on Oct. 8 and stole miscellaneous items.

Possible theft: An Applecrest Court woman and another person alleged that the president of a Market Street travel business had overcharged them for a Florida vacation.

Theft: A Texas woman reported her wallet stolen at a Doral Drive big-box store.
