Mahoning County Career and Technical Center has a new website, www.mahoningctc.com.

The new site aims to better provide parents, students, staff and community members more relevant and easy to find information about MCCTC.

“Our website has always been an important way for us to share information about the wonderful opportunities our school has to offer,” Superintendent Ronald Iarussi said. “The redesigned website has an updated look and improved functionality to ensure an easier and more engaging experience for our users.”

Session for farmers

CANFIELD

Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County and Ohio Farm Bureau in Mahoning County are sponsoring a Lunch and Learn session for area farmers on farm insurance from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road.

Social time begins at 11:30 a.m., and lunch is available for a $5 fee.

Topics such as whether or not all farming operations are covered, telling the insurance companies about all new upgrades and if there is a difference between breakdowns in the field and breakdowns on the road will be discussed. Participants are encouraged to bring their policy to be sure they’re covered.

Speakers will include Tony Daprile and Kent Fisher from Nationwide Insurance, and Eric Barrett from OSU Extension.

Grant awarded

YOUNGSTOWN

Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley has awarded a $2,000 grant to Flying Horse Farms to help underwrite the medical costs of up to five campers in 2016 from Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.

The farm in Mount Gilead, Ohio, provides weekend and weeklong camp experiences for children with serious illnesses and their families free of charge.

Campers enjoy regular camp activities such as swimming, boating, fishing, archery and more, and an on-site medical center is staffed at all hours by medical professionals from children’s hospitals.

BROOKFIELD

Brookfield High School is creating an alumni database, and its is asking alumni to visit the high-school website to register.

Registering will allow the school to provide alumni with important district information, news and updates, as well as various other pieces of information regarding the high school.
