Youngstown records first homicide of 2016
YOUNGSTOWN — Police have identified Richard Macklin, 23, as the city's first homicide victim of 2016.
Macklin was found shot to death about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday in a home in the 200 block of East Philadelphia Avenue.
Lt. Doug Bobovnyik of the detective bureau said Macklin was found after family members were concerned they had not heard from him for awhile.
In 2015, Youngstown recorded 22 homicides. That number is expected to rise after a baby that was injured Dec. 15 died Dec. 29. An autopsy is pending in that case.
