Jim Donovan band to play Yoga Room
NILES
Jim Donovan and the Sun King Warriors will give a special unplugged concert at 9 p.m. Jan. 22 at The Yoga Room in Niles Park Plaza, 815 Youngstown-Warren Road.
The band is supporting its self-titled debut album, which Donovan describes as a mix of “groove-rock and Americana with two tons of drums.” The danceable material roams from rock ‘n’ roll to tribal world rhythms.
A founding member of the multiplatinum-selling band Rusted Root, Donovan conducts workshops that use rhythm, drumming and the voice to assist in healing, personal growth and creating community. His training program teaches medical professionals, parents and teachers how to use rhythmic techniques to complement work done with children who have autism or other disabilities.
Tickets are $20 ($35 for ticket and a signed copy of the Sun King Warriors CD); call 330-637-7171 or go to eventbrite.com. For information, email trumbullyogaroom@gmail.com.
