Last-second bucket by Kaufman ignites road win for Penguins

ROCHESTER, Mich.
Jorden Kaufman made a tip-in with one second left and finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds as Youngstown State beat Oakland 100-98 Monday night for the Penguins’ second road win of the season.
Latin Davis hit his first 3-pointer of the game to give Youngstown State a 98-95 lead with 51.9 seconds left. Nick Daniels missed a 3-pointer on Oakland’s next possession but Martez Walker grabbed the offensive rebound and Kahlil Felder hit a contested 3 to tie it at 98 with 32 seconds left.
Cameron Morse beat a triple team at the top of the key and his layup attempt rolled off but Kaufman was there for the follow. Oakland did not get off a final shot before the buzzer.
Morse led Youngstown State (6-9, 1-1 Horizon), which made 16 of 32 from 3-point range, with 23 points. Junior Matt Donlan scored 19 with five 3-pointers and freshman Jordan Andrews had a career-high 18 points with four 3-pointers.
Felder had 23 points and 14 assists for Oakland (9-6, 1-1), which had a five-game winning streak in the series snapped. Nick Daniels scored 21 points and Jalen Hayes added a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Kaufman recorded the first double-double of his career.
Head coach Jerry Slocum’s Penguins won for the first time at the O’rena after making 16 3-pointer. The 16 triples are the second-most in a single-game in school history.
A 3-pointer by Felder and a dunk by Dorsey-Walker put the Golden Grizzlies up five, 92-87, before Donlan answered with a 3-pointer. Kaufman, who scored 16 of his 18 after halftime, made two free throws to tied the game at 92-92 with 3:11 to go.
Morse split two free throws to regain the lead 95-94 with 1:39 left before Felder’s free throw tied the game at 95-95.
The Penguins led by as many as eight points in the second half, 58-50.
