3 earn Eagle awards

Three local Boy Scouts of Troop 28 in Howland have earned their Eagle Scout awards and were honored at a Court of Honor ceremony at 5 p.m. Saturday at Howland Community Church. Jeffrey Sutton, D.O., is scoutmaster. All three Scouts joined the troop in May 2010.

William Angelo Dodd, 17, son of Sue Dodd of Warren, serves as patrol leader of Troop 28. His past offices include patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader. He has earned 21 merit badges. His special awards include the Arrow of Light.

Dodd is a junior at Lakeview High School, where he participates in marching and concert bands and cross country.

He is a member of St. Mary Parish in Warren.

Niall Michael Sergei McGee, 16, son of Michael and Vanessa McGee of Cortland, also is a patrol leader and previously has served as patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader. He has 21 merit badges and earned the Arrow of Light award.

McGee is a junior at John F. Kennedy High School. He is a member of the speech and debate team and plays baseball. He is a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Warren.

Maxim Ian McLeod, 17, son of Michael and Melissa McLeod of Cortland, has earned 26 merit badges and the Arrow of Light award as a member of Troop 28. He serves as troop guide, and previously was a patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader. His special Scout activities include National Youth Leadership Training, and he is an ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow, Wapashuwi Lodge.

He is a junior at Lakeview where he participates in track and cross country. He is a member of Blessed Sacrament, where he is a youth lector.
