YOUNgstown homicides in 2015

1. Mykola Iwaniuk, 84, is found beaten to death Jan. 21 in his home in the 1700 block of Oakwood Avenue on the West Side.

2. Dejuan Thomas, 33, of Osborn Avenue, dies about 1 a.m. Feb. 7 at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital after being shot outside the Partners Jazz and Blues Lounge on Oak-hill Avenue.

3. Xavier Vega, 28, is shot to death about 5:30 p.m. April 17 in a yard in the 300 block of South Jackson on the East Side.

4. William P. Jones, 55, homeless, is found shot to death April 19 in a yard on East Princeton Avenue on the South Side.

5. Amos Dothard, 18, of Plazaview Court, dies a few days after being shot April 17 at the intersection of Homestead and East Philadelphia avenues on the South Side.

6. Rashad Bailey, 23, of Maplewood Court, dies after being stabbed about 1:40 a.m. May 19 by his girlfriend during an argument.

7, 8, 9: Corinne Gump, 10, and her grandparents William and Judith Schmidt are killed in a fire at the Schmidts’ Powers Way home March 30. Ruled an arson and Robert Seman, 46, indicted June 11. Faces the death penalty if convicted. Seman is accused of raping Corinne and is accused of setting the fire the day he was to go on trial.

10. Ezequiel Rivera, 21, is shot by a bar employee who had a valid concealed-carry handgun permit after Rivera managed to get inside Mi Raza in the 1400 block of Oak Street with the shotgun about 2 a.m. June 21. Rivera had been kicked out and came back with the shotgun.

11. Tina Jarrell, 55, is found dead in her Wellington Avenue home on the West Side late July 7 by her husband.

12. Mekhi Dawson, 4 months, died Jan. 30 at a day care in the basement of Lennox Avenue.

13. Jarell Brown Sr., 18, of East LaClede Avenue, is found shot to death about 10:15 p.m. July 26 at West Indianola Avenue and Market Street.

14. A man is found shot to death about 12 p.m. Aug. 22 in the backyard of a vacant North Side home in the 100 block of Saranac Avenue. The body was spotted by a mailman.

15. Unidentified male body found on East Philadelphia Avenue on South Side being investigated as a homicide.

16. Devon Bailey, 16, dies after being shot at a Cohasset Drive home about 8:35 p.m. Sept. 16.

17. Erica Huff, 41, is found dead about 3 a.m. Nov. 6 inside her 44 Cleveland Ave. home during a fire.

18. Christopher Anderson, 30, is found shot to death next to his car on Montclair Avenue on the South Side during a gunfight about 6:15 p.m. Nov. 7.

19. Thomas Owens, 33, of Burbank Avenue, is shot to death as he sat in a parked car about 12:20 a.m. Nov. 14 in the 500 block of West Myrtle Avenue.

20. Tony Brown, 34, of West Delason Avenue, is found shot to death about 10:50 p.m. Nov. 16 outside the Southern Tavern on Glenwood Avenue. Five other people are wounded.

21. Trey Chatman, 21, of West LaClede Avenue, is found about 1:15 a.m. Nov. 26 partially burned at the corner of Liberty Road and Wardle Avenue on the East Side.

22. The body of Jeffrey Averette, 47, is found by a family member about 8:15 a.m. Dec. 3 inside his 807 High St. home.
