If you are hunkered down in front of a screen and looking for a television series to binge on, here

If you are hunkered down in front of a screen and looking for a television series to binge on, here are some options, courtesy of Verne Gay of Newsday:

v “Bleak House” (Hulu): This Andrew Davies BBC adaptation based on one of Dickens’ greatest novels stars Gillian Anderson as the aptly named Lady Dedlock. It’s magnificent, and all 15 episodes are here.

v “Homeland,” fifth season (Showtime Anytime): The fifth season, which concluded Dec. 20, is the best so far – a pounding thriller that gets so close to real-world events it almost seems to eerily anticipate them at times.

v “Ash vs. Evil Dead” (Starz on Demand): For lovers of comic horror, this is the one. Binge, and it is like popcorn; watch one episode, impossible not to watch the next. Not for everyone: disgusting, grotesque and lots of severed heads – invariably the heads of the undead.

v “Better Call Saul” (Hulu): The hugely enjoyable spinoff/prequel of “Breaking Bad” begins strongly and gets better. This is the perfect binge project, largely because it grabs your attention and never once releases its hold. And then, there’s that cast: Rhea Seehorn, Michael McKean and the incomparable Bob Odenkirk.

v “Longmire” (Net-flix): Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) is sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyo. Also psychically bruised and brooding, he’s a man as lonely and as alone under that vast Western sky as a solitary spruce.

“HGTV Dream Home” (8 p.m., HGTV): This year’s “HGTV Dream Home” is a waterfront paradise on Merritt Island, Fla., that will offer its residents a sensational coastal experience. Viewers will have a chance to win it.

“Sherlock: THE ABOMINABLE BRIDE” (9 P.M., PBS): Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman return as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, respectively, in “Sherlock: The Abominable Bride.” Only now our heroes find themselves in 1890s London for this 90-minute stand-alone special that comes immersed in gothic horror.

“The Rap Game” (10 p.m., Lifetime): “The Rap Game” is a new reality series that has music producer Jermaine Dupri working to mold five emerging hip-hop artists, age 12 to 16. Guest mentors include Usher and Ludacris.
