Mahoning commissioners have emergency session on Oakhill water situation
YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County commissioners convened an emergency staff meeting early today concerning the high lead levels found in the water at some Oakhill Renaissance Place offices.
The commissioners then adjourned into an executive session to meet with representatives from the prosecutor's office for legal advice. In that meeting was county health commissioner Patricia Sweeney.
JFS director Bob Bush said he has supplied drinking water from water coolers for his staff and Child Support Enforcement Agency employees for six years.
Meanwhile, county health department nurses will screen Youngstown Health Department employees from now until 11:30 a.m. for blood-lead levels. Three of the four high lead levels found in the water at the county-owned facility were from the city health department water fountains. The fourth was at the JFS offices on the fourth floor.
There are no blood screenings scheduled right now for county employees at Oakhill.
