Hermitage road work starts in April
Staff report
HERMITAGE, PA.
A $2.8 million project that will give motorists a smoother ride on almost 4 miles of roads here is scheduled to start in mid-April, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced.
The project will improve:
State Route 18 for 2.7 miles from a point near U.S. Route 62 to a point near Quaker Circle, just south of the Hermitage city line.
U.S. Route 62 for one mile from state Route 18 to a point near Keel Ridge Road.
State Street for a quarter mile between state Route 18 and U.S. Route 62 at the side entrance to Shenango Valley Mall.
Work will include milling and resurfacing, along with updated drainage, sidewalks, curbs and curb ramps, guide rail and pavement markings. The project also will provide traffic-signal improvements.
The contractor is Sharon Paving & Construction Co. of Sharpsville, Pa.
Costs will be paid using 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.
Work is scheduled to begin after April 11 and be completed by July 15.
No detours are anticipated, but motorists will encounter traffic-lane restrictions controlled by flaggers.
