BOARDMAN
Boardman’s stadium project has received a $150,000 donation for construction of a band shell.
Bill and Karen Veri of Boardman are making the donation.
“We are excited and honored to support the stadium project and provide the home of the Boardman Spartan Marching Band,” they said in a release.
“We want to thank the Veri family for their generous donation to the Stadium Project as well as their gift to the performing arts at Boardman,” said Bill Bonte, booster club president.
Construction on the shell is expected to begin in May and wrap up in August.

Drunken man reported at school
brookfield
Principal Chris Fahndrich of Brookfield Middle School was alerted by a student Thursday morning that an intoxicated man was walking around the school’s upper parking lot.
Fahndrich escorted the man to his office, where he stayed until police arrived.
“He entered school property while the students were arriving in the morning, but our principals handled the matter efficiently and contained the man while police officials arrived to the scene,” said Superintendent Tim Saxton. “All the proper safety procedures were taken during the situation, and charges have been filed.”
Ryan J. Latimer, 19, of Beford Road in Masury, a former Brookfield student, was carrying a knife, Brookfield police said. He was removed from school property by Brookfield police and charged with felony possession of a weapon on school property and misdemeanor underage drinking. He will be arraigned Tuesday in Eastern District Court here. He’s in the Trumbull County Jail.
Case bound over
CAMPBELL
The case against a city man facing a child-pornography charge has been bound over to the Mahoning County Court of Common Pleas.
Jason Gruber, 36, faces a felony charge of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.
Gruber appeared Friday in Campbell Municipal Court. He agreed to waive his preliminary hearing and have his case sent to the grand jury.
Officials with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office seized electronic devices after obtaining a warrant and searching Gruber’s Woodland Avenue home Feb. 18.
Landslide repair
EAST PALESTINE
A project will begin Monday to repair a landslide along state Route 170 just south of East Palestine in Columbiana County.
The project will eliminate a rockfall hazard on the roadway’s eastern uphill slope and stabilize the slope on the western downhill side. Work also will include installation of a new storm-sewer system for roadway drainage.
Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Starting on March 21, however, state Route 170 will be detoured for 190 days. The projected completion date is June 30, 2017.
