Lakes to reopen
YOUNGSTOWN
Mill Creek MetroParks will reopen Lakes Newport and Glacier for public use Tuesday, it announced today.
Park lakes closed last summer after a finding of elevated E. coli bacteria levels in the water.
Privately owned canoes, kayaks and boats are permitted on Lake Glacier and Lake Newport. Boat rentals will be available at the Lake Glacier and Lake Newport boathouses from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Fishing is permitted at both lakes in waters south of the Lake Newport dam and between Lake Glacier and Lake Cohasset dams. Fishing also is permitted at Yellow Creek Park. Fishing licenses are required. For information, visit the boating and fishing page at www.millcreekmetroparks.org.
The boating and fishing season for Mill Creek MetroParks runs from Tuesday to Nov. 30.
Drug charges
YOUNGSTOWN
A federal grand jury has returned an 11-count indictment charging Raymond R. Ingram, 36, of Youngstown with distributing crack cocaine, heroin and buprenorphine, maintaining a drug premises in May 2015 and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, the U.S. attorney said.
Ingram maintained a place on Stewart Avenue on Youngstown’s East Side for the purpose of distributing crack cocaine and heroin, according to the indictment.
Ingram also possessed a 9 mm pistol and ammunition despite a 2010 felony conviction in Medina County Common Pleas Court, the indictment said.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force. Jason M. Katz, a Youngstown-based assistant U.S. attorney, is handling the government’s case.

Auditor award goes to Bristol schools
COLUMBUS
State Auditor Dave Yost has given the auditor of state award to the Bristol Local School District in Trumbull County and to the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority.
The award is given to entities with “clean” financial audits that have no findings for recovery, material citations or weaknesses, significant deficiencies or questioned costs.
