ASSOCIATIONS
• American Association of University Women, Youngstown Branch, will meet at 9:45 a.m. March 5 in the lower-level large meeting room of the Youngstown Public Library, 305 Wick Ave. After the continental breakfast, social and business meeting, Traci Manning of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society will present “Founding Mothers: Great Women in Mahoning Valley History.” Hostesses are Clydine Watson Dickey and Dr. Vilma Kolacz-Belanger. • Mill Creek Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association will have its annual Woman of the Year dinner at 6:30 p.m. March 8 at Piccadilly Parlour, 114 S. Broad St., Canfield. Guest speaker will be Barbara Shaffer, society/features editor at The Vindicator. The 2016 Woman of the Year will be announced, and gifts and plaques will be presented to her. The winner will be a chapter representative for all functions including a national convention in the fall. Dinner includes cream of broccoli cheddar soup, potato and chive quiche, assorted tea sandwiches and mini desserts, tea, coffee, iced tea and lemonade. Cost is $20; the public is invited. Daffin’s Easter candy will be distributed, and committees will form to prepare for the annual basket auction at the Ursuline Center on April 24.

• Women’s Auxiliary of the Salvation Army of Mahoning County will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Salvation Army building, 1501 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown. Members will discuss the upcoming auxiliary elections and the spring fundraiser.

LEAGUES
• Boardman-Poland Junior Women’s League will meet at 7 p.m. March 7 at Glenellen Assisted Living, 9661 Market St., Boardman. Plans will be finalized for the Farewell to Downton Abbey Tea from 1 to 3 p.m. March 19 at Poland Presbyterian Church, a benefit for the Dorothy Day House. Members should take socks for veterans to fill blessing bags; a different item will be collected each month and filled bags will be given to veterans in November. Members are invited to wear green in recognition of St. Patrick’s Day and to welcome spring. Hostesses for the meeting are Debbie Chop, Yvonne Ford and Cheryl Smaldino, who will be sharing food from their heritage. The league is open to all women over 18 residing in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties who are interested in friendship, fun and community involvement. • Warren Women’s Connection, an affiliate of Stonecroft Ministries, will host a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 14 at DiLucia’s Banquet Center, 2610 Elm Road NE, Warren. Nora White of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, an author and radio show host, will discuss leaving a legacy. Melinda Weiss of Hubbard will be vocalist, and author and gardener Carol Kauffman will share her knowledge about growing sweet violets. Stonecroft Ministries is a nondenominational organization. Rick Shale, author of the “Last Ride of the Summer,” will offer a presentation and photo display about the history of Idora Park. Copies of the book will be available for sale. Shale, a retired YSU English teacher, also co-authored “Historic Mill Creek Park.”
