CANFIELD

Trustees have prepared material for a meeting with the Mahoning County engineer to discuss maintenance of county roads within the township.

“All the townships get to talk to the Mahoning County engineer and department heads at the same time,” said township Trustee Marie Cartwright. “We have put together a list of roads we have questions about, in our township, that we would like them to address.”

Cartwright said she wanted to discuss specifically the potholes on Raccoon Road.

Keith Rogers, township administrator, road superintendent and zoning inspector, volunteered to take pictures of the roads and culverts impacting the roads for the presentation at the meeting, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center in the Joyce Brooks room, 7300 N. Palmyra Road.

“What’s nice about the meeting is that you get to talk to the people who are responsible [for the roads] and they are the ones who get the job done,” said Carmen Heasley, fiscal officer.

In other news, trustees set a budget meeting for 2 p.m. on March 3 and approved opening lawn maintenance bids for the township park to contractors as of March 2.

“It just shows the area on Herbert Road of the areas we want cut,” Cartwright said. “The price is based on the package and we determine the best, lowest, bitter for the job.”

The selected contractor will be announced at the March 29 meeting.
