Akron-Canton Airport unveils $240 million, 20-year master plan

GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Officials with the Akron-Canton Airport have unveiled a $240 million, 20-year plan for guiding improvements and capital investments at the facility.

Airport CEO and President Rick McQueen says the plan announced Thursday was approved by the Federal Aviation Administration late last year.

Current projects under the plan include a glass-canopy and ticket-wing expansion and work on reconfiguring the entrance road loop around the front of the terminal. That will include new commercial lanes to make it easier for passenger vehicles.

Other longer-term projects include airfield and taxiway improvements, expanded parking and renovation of the terminal.

The airport also plans a $30 million gate-replacement project. New gates will include jet bridges so passengers won’t have to load onto planes from the ground.
