LINDALE, TEXAS
Warren native Ryan T. Mullee, 39, was shot to death Friday afternoon in what police believe was a road-rage incident on Interstate 20 near the city of Van.
Mullee, of Lindale, husband and father of two daughters and son of Thomas F. Mullee and Marion Mullee of Warren, was an Army veteran who worked in computer security for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in Dallas, according to his obituary.
He was traveling home Friday afternoon from work when the shooting occurred. A witness said someone in a gray or light-colored four-door sedan fired at him.
He is survived by his wife, Mindy (Dudley) Mullee, and daughters Delaney Mullee and Rylee Mullee.
“He was just ... the best person ever,” Delaney, 10, told a reporter in an interview with Texas television station KLTV.
She and her father shared a deep love for “Star Wars,” theater and each other, she said. He was scheduled to co-star in the Tyler, Texas, Civic Theatre’s upcoming production of “Charlotte’s Web” in the coming week. Delaney also was planning to perform.
“He wasn’t just my dad; he was my best friend,” Delaney said.
“It’s very tragic, very tragic,” Thomas Mullee told the TV station.
“He was a very positive person,” Thomas said, adding that his son’s life was going just as he planned it.
“He had a wonderful job, a wonderful career, wonderful family,” Thomas said.
Ryan was born Jan. 7, 1977, in Warren, according to his obituary, and was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Texas.
