Students supply spaghetti supper and a spectacular show
AUSTINTOWN
Students will serve supper and a show at Fitch Band’s annual spaghetti dinner.
Students in band, band department staff and Austintown Band Parents are hosting a dinner at Fitch High School from noon to 7p.m. on Saturday in the cafeteria.
It’s a fundraiser for band instruments and uniforms.
Various bands will perform throughout the day – Austintown Intermediate School’s fifth-grade band at 12 p.m., Fitch Freshman Band at 1 p.m., Fitch Concert Band at 2 p.m., Fitch Jazz Band at 3 p.m., Fitch Symphonic Band at 4 p.m. and Austintown Middle School bands at 5 p.m.
“The entire event is amazing – the performance is fun,” said band director Wesley O’Connor. “Our groups will play lighter, pop-oriented music, as well as our more serious concert literature. Band students work very hard throughout the year. It makes me proud to see them improve as musicians and grow into young adults.”
Bob Hope, Austintown Band Parents member, said he likes the responsibility aspect of the event – students are involved because the funds raised go toward new instruments and uniforms for them.
