Police arrest man in slaying of Ohio mother dead in car
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Police say they have arrested a man in the slaying of a woman found fatally shot in a car with her unharmed 6-month-old girl in southwest Ohio.
The man was arrested Wednesday in Dayton in 29-year-old Brittany Russell’s slaying. She was found dead in the parking lot of a Dayton apartment complex on Feb. 10. Her baby daughter, Haven, was safely strapped in her car seat with the car and heater running.
Middletown police said Russell took Haven on Feb. 9 from the Middletown home of the baby’s father, who was the custodial parent. Dayton police found Russell and her daughter the next day.
Dayton police said no official charges had been approved Wednesday. But they planned to meet with prosecutors today. Police didn’t comment on a possible motive.
