Jules bound to grand jury in shooting of girlfriend

BROOKFIELD

Marvin Jules, 33, of Ulp Street in Masury, waived his preliminary hearing today in Eastern District Court here, and his case was bound over to a Trumbull County grand jury in the shooting of his girlfriend, Lynda Campbell, 54.

Jules is charged with felonious assault , accused of shooting her multiple times Monday morning at their home and then calling 911 and telling the dispatcher and Campbell he was sorry.

In an 11-minute call, he told the dispatcher he shot his "lover" because of jealousy. He was instructed to lay down on the front porch of the home until Brookfield police arrived, but instead he walked to the nearby Orange Village nursing home, where police found him inside and took him into custody.

Police recovered what they believe was the gun used in the attack in a field near the home.

If convicted, Jules could get eight years in prison, though officials say he could be charged with additional crimes at the grand jury level.
