Police have arrested a man who purportedly assaulted a woman in December and threatened to sell her for crack cocaine.
James Mrofchak, 44, of Girard faces a felony domestic-violence charge. Police took Mrfochak into custody Tuesday after arriving at a Second Street home with a warrant for his arrest.
A 27-year-old woman told police Dec. 20 that Mrofchak punched her, threatened her with a kitchen knife and bound her hands, according to a police report.
She also said Mrofchak told her he was going to sell her so he would have money to buy crack. A few days prior, Mrofchak broke her cellphone so she would be unable to call for help, the woman told police.
Mrofchak was booked into the Trumbull County Jail before being released on a $50,000 bond. He will be arraigned today Girard Municipal Court.
Jail records indicate he has been previously booked on multiple other charges including domestic violence, being a fugitive from justice, probation violation and aggravated burglary.
