The Mahoning County commissioners have awarded a $30,000 contract to Environmental Enterprises Inc. of Cincinnati to conduct the 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 21 household hazardous-waste collection at the Canfield Fairgrounds.
County residents may bring pool chemicals, acids, varnishes, shellac, oil-based paint and thinners to that annual collection.
The company recycles and reuses what it can and dumps other waste into an approved landfill, said Lou Vega, county recycling director.
The commissioners also approved Monday a $25,000 household battery recycling contract with Battery Solutions LLC of Howell, Mich.
The commissioners also approved a $7,653 contract with CTM Media Group Inc. of Tallmadge for distribution of Mahoning County tourism promotion literature at Cleveland and Pittsburgh hotel and tourist attraction and interstate highway rest area literature racks.
They also approved a $13,695 contract with Travel Boards Inc. of Solon for Mahoning County tourism promotion advertising signs along the Ohio Turnpike.
The tourism promotion contracts are being funded by county hotel bed tax revenue, said Tara Meta, county Convention and Visitor’s Bureau assistant director.
The commissioners’ next meeting will be at 10 a.m. March 3 at the county Board of Developmental Disabilities’ Meshel MASCO, 160 Marwood Circle, Boardman.
