What killed the birds?

Carcasses of dozens of large black birds in the northbound lane of Interstate 680 near Midlothian Boulevard, reported Saturday by passers-by, has led to an investigation into what killed the birds by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, ODNR Wildlife Officer Jesse Janosik said samples of the birds were collected for testing and that it would take a couple of days to determine the cause of death.
Hit-and-run probed

A mother, with her 1-year-old child in her vehicle, was turning into a driveway in the 600 block of Afton Avenue when the vehicle was struck by an improperly passing pickup truck and it spun into an utility pole. The driver of the truck failed to stop after the crash Sunday afternoon.
The driver of the car, Carrie Christoff of Boardman, was not injured. Her child was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley for possible injuries.
Boardman police found the pickup but have not determined who was driving it when the crash occurred. Both vehicles were heavily damaged. The crash is under investigation.
Single-vehicle crash
SOUTHINGTON
A vehicle rolled over along Phalanx Mills-Herner Road in Southington Township early Sunday.
According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, no one was injured in the one-vehicle crash.
Firefighters from Southington, Farmington and Champion responded to the crash, which was reported at 7:39 a.m. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating. The cause is unknown.
