Junior Civic League offers scholarships


YOUNGSTOWN

The Junior Civic League is accepting applications through March 19 for its 2016 scholarship award.

Student eligibility requirements for the program includes having at least one parent of African-American origin; must be a graduating senior at a public or private high school in Mahoning or Trumbull county; must be seeking a degree from an accredited college or university in the United States or enrolling in a school of nursing affiliated with a university; must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of no less than 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; and has financial need.

Scholarships are $1,500 each and are non-renewable.

Since its inception, the JCL has awarded over $524,800 in scholarships to high school students selected on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, community involvement, personal qualities and strengths.
