Let couple count the ways Trump would help US

Let couple count the ways Trump would help US

In response to Bud McKelvey’s letter in The Vindicator on Feb. 14, don’t vote Democrat despite what Mr. McKelvey stated.

Vote for the most qualified candidate to be our president. Read and learn.

1. He is not a lawyer or politician.

2. He has had 45 years of experience in the “real” world as a successful businessman.

3. He owns a privately held corporation.

4. He has worked more than 40-hour weeks his whole life.

5. He has to pay his individual income taxes April 15 along with estimated taxes on money he hasn’t even made yet, and still has money in the bank to continue his business.

6. He has to hire folks who are great employees and if they fail, they are fired.

7. The greatest thing Donald Trump does for the U.S. is to employ people (give people jobs) and also to pay them with his profits. He’s not paying them with someone else’s money.

8. His conservative principles and work ethic are evidenced in his children, all who are successful, hardworking, and continuing his legacy.

9. He tells it like it is – not worried about pleasing all the lobbyists. He is paying for his own campaign.

10. He is pro-National Rifle Association.

11. He will secure our borders.

12. He wants to postpone Muslim immigration.

13: Wants to send “illegal” immigrants back to their land of origin. Our ancestors came here “legally” – that’s the way it is supposed to be.

14: He prefers to make $6 million for veterans instead of going to a debate.

15: Knows many competent, successful people from which to choose his staff. No positions will be filled for political reasons.

16. When president, he will call out incompetent politicians whose only agenda is for political gain rather.

17. He will be working instead of playing golf.

18. He will hold Congress accountable for delays in legislation and will not hesitate to drop names of politicians delaying progress.

Donald Trump’s secret ingredient for making America great again is common sense.

Enough with the smear tactics in race for president

As unusual as the presidential campaign is, I believe the election results will have the sweet sound of music, or ear-splitting grumbling. I will never understand why educated, intelligent presidential hopefuls display such unprofessional behavior at debates.

I believe a debate is a platform to present ideas, issues, solutions to problems, introduce new proposals, and challenges. When candidates smear opponents, they cheapen their character and the highest office that deserves the greatest respect and honor. Smearing the dirt about opponents should be submitted only to sensationalist tabloids.

I was told when people need to put others down, find fault, and delight in gossiping, they show themselves to be mean-spirited, with an underdeveloped brain.

The lineup of candidates has Bernie Sanders as savvy and a professional go-getter. Hillary Clinton is bright, and as much as I’d like to see a woman president, I am not convinced she is tough enough for the long run.

Donald Trump is tough minded, with a stand your ground view. Not only is he a Pied Piper, he is convincing.

Jeb Bush yearns to have the word president before his name, joining in the rank with his father and brother.

Gov. John Kasich is brainy, a planner, with capable skills. But he is plagued with uncertainty.

Dr. Ben Carson is a good man and healer of human beings. Healing problems for him is questionable.

Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio have promising futures, but now is not their time.

Our country has serious problems. We need a president to occupy the Oval Office with boxing gloves, solutions to problems, a new-movement attitude, and one who will never give up the fight for what he believes is right.

As long as Americans remember that “living free is as rich as any person can ever be,” America will always be the greatest country in the world.

True Christians remain faithful for their lifetime

To the gentleman in a recent column who states that most Christians aren’t Christian.

You don’t understand the true meaning of what it takes to be a Christian.

You yourself may not use a weapon against someone or go to war against a nation. You may love your enemies, obey your government and pay your taxes. But, what are you not doing that Jesus said? Oh! Maybe you’re perfect like the rich young ruler thought he was (Luke 18:20-23).

Coming to Jesus through faith alone is what makes a person a Christian, and once that happens, nothing can take away your Christianity.

We all who are Christians are not perfect. Unfortunately we still sin. We need to be sorry for our sins; that’s when the Lord forgives (Romans 7:14-25).

Living by the sword is for those who live for violence. In Luke 22:36 Jesus tells his disciples to “buy a sword”. In Matthew 24:6-7, Jesus says there will be wars, nation against nation. We are to defend against evil. Loving our enemies means to care and pray for them.

Obeying our government is not something we have to do if your government doesn’t hold to the teachings of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 13:7-8, Act 4 & 5). The disciples said, “We will obey God, not man” (the passing of gay marriage comes to mind).
