All 28 samples below federal limit

SEBRING

All 28 samples of household tap water in the most-recent round of voluntary households tested below the federal allowable limit of lead, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency reported Friday. Combined with earlier voluntary test results, the Ohio EPA found that 935 of 979 samples have been below the federal allowable level.

The OEPA has also found that water coming into homes from the Sebring water system with readings above the federal allowable level is healthy and that running the tap for 30 seconds to two minutes before using eliminates any detectable lead in the water.

The village still is required to provide bottled water or filtration systems to homes where results are over the federal allowable level and work with the county to provide health screening for residents. In addition, the village must complete all immediate, short-term and long-term actions required by the OEPA .
