up for adoption

How to adopt: Call West Side Cats at 330-792-4228. Visit them at the shelter at 2217 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.

Name: Mittens

Info: This 10 month old gray and white longhaired feline is a frightened little lady— she’s been outside for all of her young life and seems to wonder how she got stuck in a cage. She needs lots of love and care, and her fur could use a good brushing. Volunteers think it would be best if she was the only pet in her new home, at least until she opens up. Older children are ok, but younger ones scare her. She has a lot of possibility for an owner with that has the right amount of love and patience.

Name: McKenzie

Info: This beautiful Calico is a special needs cat. She was born on March 25, 2009 and was rescued from a hoarding situation in New Jersey with 60 other cats, along with her siblings. She has some cerebellar hypoplasia but it doesn’t stop her from going and doing whatever she sets her mind to. She is timid but getting better, and lets volunteers pick her up. She gets along with cats and older children but please no dogs. She’s been at the shelter for far too long and would love to find a home of her own!

Hours: 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; Closed Sunday and Monday.

Info: Both cats have been neutered and are up-to-date on their shots. They tested negative for feline AIDS and leukemia. They have been flea-treated and dewormed and are ready to go home.
