Negro leaguer to speak at Tyler

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society, in partnership with the Ebony Lifeline Sports Museum, will present “Leadership and Legacy: The Significance of Athletics and the Negro Baseball League,” a free lecture by W. James Cobbin, president/CEO of CCS Transportation, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown. Cobbin grew up in Youngstown and started his baseball career in the late 1950s with the Black Yankees and the Indianapolis Clowns of the Negro Baseball League. After serving in the Army, he went on to play in a European league.
Ebony Lifeline currently has an exhibition at the Tyler that features sports-related images, trophies and equipment that highlight the contributions of the black and Latino communities in the Valley. It will run through April 30. Call 330-743-2589.
Art exhibit takes a look at love
WARREN
An art exhibition titled “Love, Lust & Loneliness: The Human Experience of Love,” featuring eight regional artists, will open Saturday at DNA Studios, 137 S. Park Ave. The public is welcome to attend a free artists reception at 7 p.m., featuring refreshments and electronic music by Dollar Bill. The show will run through March 14. All works are for sale.
Featured artists are James Pernotto, R. Jason Vanhoose, Bill Barron, Andrew Thomas, Dennis W. Freet, Rachel E. Hathhorn, D.J. Blakemand and Amber Slick.
