A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Feb. 9

Theft: A Kennedy Road woman reported a purse and various prescription medications stolen from her vehicle.

Feb. 10

Identity fraud: A Stymie Road man learned that his personal information had been used without authorization.

Identity fraud: A Youngstown man discovered his identity had been compromised while in the 6200 block of Struthers Road.

BOARDMAN

Feb. 11

Arrest: Scot W. Gruver of Mill Creek Boulevard, Boardman, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired after having been pulled over near his residence. The 53-year-old Gruver’s blood-alcohol level was 0.170, more than twice Ohio’s 0.08 intoxication limit, a report showed.

Drugs: Richard E. Ansel, 36, of Sommerfield Lane, Warren, was taken into custody during a traffic stop on Southwoods Drive. He was charged with possession of drugs and drug-abuse instruments when, police alleged, a small bindle of suspected heroin and a syringe were found.

Theft/aggravated menacing: A woman told police that a man whom she had invited to her Shields Road apartment held a knife to her throat, threatened the accuser and stole a bottle of over-the-counter pills from her.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a building in the 60 block of Shields Road via a side window, then removed copper piping.

Theft: An Applecrest Court woman noticed two rent checks totaling $900 were missing.

Theft: A woman reported $168 stolen from her purse while at a physical-therapy appointment at a U.S. Route 224 facility.

Aggravated menacing: A Cook Avenue man told officers he saw someone in what he believed was a light Ford Taurus brandishing a firearm before his stepson reported having received threatening Facebook messages.

Identity fraud: A Poland man found out that a van had been registered in his name and its license plates renewed without his consent.

Arrest: Robert D. Glenn, 26, of Gladstone Avenue, Campbell, surrendered on one felony count each of domestic violence and fleeing and eluding police after a Feb. 6 situation in which authorities on East Western Reserve Road reported having tried to arrest him on a warrant before he led them on a vehicular pursuit reaching up to 80 mph, then on a foot chase.

Feb. 12

Arrest: Authorities arrested 51-year-old Scott T. Vincent at his Crystal Drive home. The Boardman man was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Struthers.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 7400 block of Ranier Trail before taking a dirt bike.

Menacing: A Forest Garden Drive woman told police she believes someone in a dark vehicle has been following her.

Theft: A woman reportedly fled in a silver Hyundai vehicle after having made a fraudulent return on $22 worth of merchandise at Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. She also stole a $10 bag of bird seed, a report said.

Domestic violence: Troy T. Kesler, 34, of Ranier Trail, Boardman, was arrested on warrants charging domestic violence and child endangering after a Jan. 14 situation in which his teenage son alleged Kesler had fired two BBs, striking his left thigh area. The elder Kesler evidently was angered when his son hit him with a snowball during a snowball fight between them, a report showed.

Identity theft: A Green Garden Drive man learned that someone had used his personal information without consent to file for a 2015 income-tax refund after he received a letter from the Ohio Department of Taxation stating his tax returns had been audited.

Arrest: Authorities took into custody Erin L. Kraysets of Crescent Drive Northeast, Warren, when she came to the Boardman Police Department to obtain a release form for her vehicle. Kraysets, 35, was wanted on a felony warrant from Niles charging her with receiving stolen property.

Theft: Damone L. Alexander, 22, of Liberty Road, Youngstown, was charged after a $92 bottle of cologne was stolen from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.

Feb. 13

Theft: Police charged 48-year-old Deirdra J. Williams with theft after alleging Williams, of Forest Park Drive, Boardman, had stolen $401 worth of merchandise, including a sweatshirt, from the J.C. Penney store.

Auto theft: A 2010 Chevrolet Malibu was stolen in the 6000 block of Market Street.

Theft by deception: A township man told authorities he went to a Market Street eatery to buy an iPhone for $360 before finding out it had been reported lost or stolen.

Domestic violence: A 14-year-old township girl was charged after her father alleged she struck the accuser with several household items she had thrown at him and twice punched the back of his head during an argument after the victim forbade her from going to a friend’s home.

Misuse of a credit card: A Woodview Avenue woman found out her stolen debit card had been used to make a $21.75 unauthorized purchase.

Criminal damaging: A Mayfield Drive woman saw that someone had driven through and damaged part of her front lawn.

Feb. 14

Arrest: A traffic stop near Doral Drive resulted in the arrest of Demetric D. Cobb, 34, who was wanted on warrants charging failure to comply with police and possession of dangerous drugs. Cobb, of West Judson Avenue, Youngstown, also was given a minor-misdemeanor citation charging him with marijuana possession.

Auto thefts: Someone broke into Donnell Ford, 7955 Market St., and stole three vehicles, including a 2016 Mustang. Two of the cars were recovered.

Assault: A Philadelphia man alleged another man had shoved him during a child-custody exchange at a home in the 5700 block of Rosewood Drive.

Theft: Two license plates were stolen off vehicles at a Stadium Drive business.

Burglary: A Toledo man staying at a Tiffany Boulevard motel discovered 12 over-the-counter medications and a pack of cigarettes missing from his room that someone had entered.

Theft: A $150 dehumidifier was removed from a piece of rental property in the 300 block of White House Lane.

Theft: A woman noticed her $600 iPhone missing from a locker at a McClurg Road business.

Arrest: While answering a call about a possible robbery at a Market Street motel, officers charged Demark D. Yost, 23, of Sterling, Mich., with making a false alarm and obstructing official business after a woman alleged Yost had asked her to fabricate a story about a carjacking. He also lied to police about where he lives, a report stated.

Theft: A man reportedly stole a $6 bottle of dish soap from Walmart.

Vandalism: Two men reportedly did about $1,090 worth of damage to restrooms at Primanti Bros., a restaurant at 6731 South Ave.

Feb. 15

Aggravated menacing: A South Cadillac Drive man told officers someone had threatened to come to his residence and shoot him.

Identity theft: A Boardman-Canfield Road woman learned that her password and sign-in information on her business computer had been changed at least 23 times without her consent.

Theft: A Campbell woman reported $300 had been removed from her car in the 6300 block of South Avenue.

Theft: A 17-year-old Youngstown boy was accused of taking a pair of women’s earrings from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall. The teen also was charged with obstructing official business when, authorities said, he provided several phony names and dates of birth as well as a false phone number.

Felonious assault: A manager with a business in the 8000 block of Market Street alleged a former employee head-butted him in the mouth during a fight that apparently had started when he asked the person to leave. The victim suffered several loose lower teeth.

Feb. 16

Aggravated menacing: A South Avenue woman told police she received about 10 threatening calls, including a threat that she would be decapitated.

Aggravated menacing: Christian Q. DeSantis, 43, of West Manor Avenue, Poland, faced an aggravated-menacing charge after another driver near Carter Circle alleged DeSantis came toward the accuser while pointing a gun at him.

Drugs: After a postal inspector checked a suspicious United Parcel Service package in Louisville, Ky., on which was an address to a Boardman motel, police with a search warrant arrested 22-year-old Byron D. Johnson Jr. of East Lucius Avenue, Youngstown, on a felony count of trafficking in marijuana, as well as 25-year-old Dwaylon A. Gibbs of Palmer Avenue, Youngstown, on two counts of drug possession and one of trafficking in marijuana. A Boardman officer posed as a UPS driver; in addition, about 2 pounds of suspected marijuana, a bag containing a small quantity of suspected marijuana, and several over-the-counter pills were found, authorities alleged.

Criminal damaging: A Griswold Drive woman reported her car’s rear windshield was broken.

Menacing: A salesman with a Market Street car dealership told police a customer threatened to beat him up.

Assault: A man alleged that during an argument with another driver at a Doral Drive big-box store, the motorist had tossed a plastic bottle and struck his girlfriend’s face and, when the accuser confronted the person, he was grabbed by the neck.

Identity fraud: A Turnberry Drive woman discovered $2,146 worth of unauthorized charges had been made to her business’s checking account.
